Isa - Winter Jotun (3rd I fought) wasn't as hard as the previous one.Fe - Cave Jotun (2nd I fought) was quite hard.Jera - Nature Jotun (1st I fought) was pretty easy. This guy is kinda OP, especially in the last phase with fireballs everywhere and him jumping around and thrashing! All the rest seemed like there was a pattern or weak-spot to them, and you just had to execute an appropriate plan correctly. I'm having difficulties with Fire boss as well. I do not know if you'll try to defeat him again, but I hope this helps you if you do try again. Keep the spear power to burst down the final 20%. In the second phase, when there is a lot of meteor around, it is good to have the shield power ready in case you get knocked in the lava. Like every other boss, he is weak to a Thor/Speed combo. This make it so he is most often stunned when landing from a jump. It will be postponed to the next attack he recieve. The stun cannot happen when he is recovering from a sword attack. So it will seem more random if you change direction after he started the sword attack anticipation. The way it works is that at the beginning of his animation he tries to lead your movement and select the closest ending animation to it. The sword attack isn't random, but sometime it may look like it. If you haven't completed the other 4 regions, I suggest you do it first. I can give you some pointer that will hopefully help you beat him. We did not intend to make him this frustrating. This boss is meant to be fought last so we did make him a bit harder than the previous ones. I did not feel frustrated since I was learning with each new death but this fire boss? Yeah I know if I try and try, I will be able to defeat the boss but frankly I hate random elements in games, this is it for me, the extent I will spend time on this game. All of the other bosses had a reason and rhythm to them, everytime I died I learned something and I did a little better until I was able to win. It also clashes with the rest of the game I have played so far. Random and drawn out boss fight is never a good design. I have played both Dark Souls games, Demon Souls, Bloodborne, Ninja Gainden 1 and 2 and no where in those games I got stuck on a boss fight like this. Why does it push me away when going to stun mode, towards the incoming fireballs? I have no idea when he is going to that so sometimes I just end up in the middle of a fireball after attacking him. My movement is not fast enough for a dodge at the last second. Sometime it feels like it is attacking last place I was, sometimes it lands no where near me, sometimes at actually tracks my movement and sometime it actually hits where I am running towards. That damn sword attack, it just cant make up its mind. This must be most stupidly random boss fight I| have ever seen in any game: I just feel like the rest of the game is a lot more inspired than the achievement choices. So after trying for about 2 and half hours, I gave up. Or maybe beating all 6 bosses in a row without dying.Īlso please don't take that the wrong way. That would have been awesome and I think the player would feel like they had more control over the outcome and if the difficulty was tweaked right it could be something impressive to have. That would be both fun, slightly skill oriented, it wouldn't have forced us to play w/o healing magic, and most importantly we wouldn't have to pound the "Restart" button constantly.Ī more skill-intensive Valhalla mode achievement would have been a well play-tested time attack, imo. Or "Impaler of : Kill with Gungnir" or "Smasher of : Kill with Mjollnir. Or a tricky skill-based achieve that reinforced the lore and let us play the game as it was designed. whoopee." I feel either harder achievements that had less RNG or less annoying achievements would ultimately be more meaningful. I played this long enough to get RNG positive runs. I love the idea of the achievements but they certainly aren't the kind where I feel like "yeah! I earned that!" They make me feel like "Cool. Not only that but for anyone who cares about achieves they fundamentally change the game in a negative way a la "beat each boss with one hand tied behind your back." Healing magic is basically a worthless ability to anyone who cares about achievements, for example. It's just more RNG than seems acceptable for me to ever think of these achievements as being impressive or skill based. I love the game in general but there's just a lot of RNG involved in the fights such that it makes some of the perfect/shun clears feel meaningless when you get them. I really enjoy challenging achievements and I'm halfway done the Valhalla mode achieves but I gotta say I don't think this game's achievements endear me to it.
