![]() ![]() With this new milestone, the key global and European stakeholders of the TV world have evidenced their commitment to make sure HbbTV is always and fully up to the challenges of bringing a compelling TV experience to viewers,” said Vincent Grivet, Chairman of the HbbTV Association. “This new version of the HbbTV core specification represents a huge amount of work by our members over the last 18 months. The HbbTV Association has published a full list of features and changes that can be found in the resources library of its website. There are also a number of smaller enhancements and fixes to errors found in previous versions of the HbbTV specification. Their availability depends on the TV set or set-top box supporting the underlying feature. Also included are the new DVB-I standard, enabling HbbTV Red Button applications to be used with live and linear TV services received as a DVB-I stream via broadband networks. Version 2.0.4 adds integration with voice assistants, with accessibility features, such as dialogue enhancement or user interface magnification. Why should anyone screen the devs before making a purchase? The idea alone is undignifying. The HbbTV Association has updated its core specification for the delivery of advanced interactive TV services through broadcast and broadband networks for connected TV sets and set-top boxes. While I am glad to see the developers are finally seeing their product as a real business opportunity, but be honest with your consumers. Often, if there are major changes to the billing systems, such as the one this app has gone through, not only they announce the decision across all social media, they don't slap the non-Korean speaking users by making it "free" for only few. I had to run Google Translate just to read why this app made a decision to go indepependent and run the so-called event only for 4 months without publicizing it. They need to work with Apple to deliver the app, not run a pseudo black market. Even now the app description leaves that part out. They could have simply added the fact that there are two versions available like any other apps do. Most apps, when confronted with rules and policies conflicts, choose to create a downloadable add-on, which then can be downloaded separately, not fully going independent. But seeing an upgrade event held in barely-in-existence website alongside another minor Korean sub, does make me wonder if the developer had the intention to make this available outside of Korea.īlaming Apple for strict App Store policies has not and will not help anyone either. If this is a major upgrade, heck, you might want to consider subscription model. But seeing there was a "free upgrade event" for all licenses, except that it was not announced on the App Store front, is simply hilarious.ĭon't get me wrong here: I believe there are ought to be second payment. I've been using this app even before it hit the App Store, and was very grateful to see it available on the store. This app finally has a working support website, except neither the website nor the App Store does the justice to keep people informed. I’m sure everyone knows what they are ought to expect by simply looking at the screenshots. There are also some real competitors showing up on the App Store.ĭedicated subtitle supports and options, and good enough performance. Or it was, now that this app *PRO* is available on the developer's website separately, perhaps I should refrain from calling it the best. It’s probably one of the best media players available in the App Store. Check it out before you make the purchase. ![]() There was also a free upgrade event, most English-speaking users would have missed out on. Tl dr There is now a *PRO* version of the same app available only on the developers' website. ![]()
